EMINEM

Marshall Bruce Mather III. a.k.a. EMINEM. Eminem is an American rapper, record producer and an actor. Eminem is someone I somewhat admire, because he is the white rapper who can rap almost as good as other famous rappers, such as 50 cents. Eminem influenced me in many ways. Firstly, he introduced me into the world of rap. He helped me understand that rap is not only about sex and drugs, but can be about a person's life, and can be very influential. Secondly, Eminem helped me realize that dreams can come true when you try hard, like Eminem himself, who is white Caucasian rapper who worked hard in order to become who he is now. Eminem not only influenced me but also influenced many other teenagers, by his rap, especially "Not Afraid," and "Love the Way You Lie." His rap and his style has influenced many others, because he is "Mr.Controversy." Himself and his rap are controversial towards the ordinary society, because generally rappers are all black, and also rap about stereotypical stuffs, such as drugs. However, Eminem has changed all this stereotypical ideas about rap. He is one of the best rapper in the world, and also at the same time, a person with great potential that can influence many others using his rap.

  1. Eminem shows people that if you work hard you can achieve your dreams, although different audiences definitely perceive him differently. He raised the question of whether or not rap can be influential when he was strongly criticized for rapping about things like wanting to kill his wife and beat up gay people. He argues that audiences should be able to understand that his lyrics aren't meant to be taken seriously, although others disagree and think that his lyrics do encourage listeners to be misogynistic and homophobic. For me, Eminem is truly a "site of struggle" because I do enjoy listening to a lot of his rap songs but I sometimes find the lyrics disturbing. However, his more recent raps seem to have more positive messages, and it can certainly be argued that in some ways he is a role model.
